More Team Arena

As things tend to get quiet during the American holidays here's a roundup of a bunch of misc TeamArena stuff that so many people are playing the demo etc. Keep in mind the demo is standalone so you dont need Quake3 to play it, contrary to what a lot of people seem to believe.

- Strategy guide on Denken.com , PlanetQuake - Reviews on FiringSquad , 3DAP , 3D-Unlimited , ActionTrip , theecronom , Gaming-Unlimited - The Duffy on TeamArena thread had some posts by a couple of id guys.
After extensive testing, I still cant stand proximity mines, except for neeto rocketjumps.

  • Well, it's finally done downloading and installed. Played it breifly.

I like the new Id software logo - much more "dynamic" than before.

I like the front end/menu. And as they say every meal tastes as good as it's presentation.

I've never played the team modes of the game before, so I was a bit lost after I started playing (I lost right quick). Any thoughts I have on the game play are better left a few weeks after I've played them more.

The new female character has nice legs.

Final thoughts - I wish the original Q3 was more like this. Providing the full version will allow me DM against bots (again, digital divide dial-up)

Should this reflect any up and coming game from Id Software, I'd say we might be able to expect something much more better than we do for Doom 3.

  • i finally got the demo downloaded on my dailup connection, my thoughts:

the map is good but nothing innovative (the maps in the demo movie look much cooler, which im sure is what id intended)

i usually like plain deathmatch and not team games but harvester strikes a good balance between dm and team strategy, and overlord is pretty cool too...havent tried one flag yet...

the arrows are helpful and unobtrusive (i don't think they mess up the atmosphere at all)

my frame rate sucks in ta, but it's playable

    nice interface

what is the point of the videos playing within the levels?...like why do i need to see a video of a game im playing within a game im playing?

the new models are pretty cool but why doesn't their upper body move when they run?...they look stiff...and i think they'd look cooler if they were more "gothic" looking like the guy on the loading page...

the countdown before the match is good, glad they added that too all gametypes...

overall, i like it and look forward to the full version...back to playing...
