Of all the different video game genres to find representation with virtual reality hardware, survival might be one of the most exciting. The notion of surviving in an unforgiving, alien world is at the core of Seeking Dawn, the upcoming title from Multiverse Inc., and players won't have to wait too much longer to try it out.

In a recent press release, the developers have revealed that Seeking Dawn will be launching for Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive next Thursday, July 12, with a PlayStation VR release scheduled for sometime later this year. Set two centuries in the future amidst an alien world torn apart by war, players will take on the role of James Weston as he searches for crew members who went missing following an assignment to investigate a nearby military uprising. Players can get a general feel for the game's vibe in the latest 12-minute trailer, featured below.

The developers have indicated that Seeking Dawn will feature a main campaign about 20 hours long, plus an online multiplayer component where gamers can get together with their friends to construct, fortify, and defend their home bases. A number of different enemy types will be featured, as will a selection of different weapons each featuring "its own unique feel and purpose."

Players will be able to scoop up the game over on Steam and the Oculus storefront for $39.99. Alternatively, those who wish to get in on the action sooner can opt to pre-order the game over at the Multiverse Inc. website for $35.00, a price which includes access to the in-progress beta. Participation is limited to the first 500 adopters, however, so those players should act quickly.
