Wreckfest began its life many moons ago under the name Next Car Game. Developer Bugbear Entertainment was fresh off of delivering Ridge Racer Unbounded for Bandai Namco and decided to try crowdfunding to build the driving game they always wanted. Two months after a failed Kickstarter attempt, the team released the game onto Steam Early Access and made some waves off the back of an incredibly fun demo level. From that point, the game languished in an unfinished state for years while also making a name change to Wreckfest. Shortly after being picked up by publisher THQ Nordic, Bugbear whipped the game into shape and officially released on June 14. Join us today at 6:30 PM ET (3:30PM PT) on the Official Shacknews Twitch Channel as we take Wreckfest for a few spins in the mud.
