Mavericks: Proving Grounds Will Be Much More Than A 1,000 Player Battle Royale

There's a lot coming to this $10 million shooter, which sounds more like an MMO.

Developer Automaton secured $10 million to pursue their ambitious project Mavericks: Proving Grounds and we got a chance to speak with one of the devs about it during E3 2018.

Mavericks: Proving Grounds will feature a 12k x 12k playable area with a social hub called the capital. The battle royale instances are simply a part of the experience. They "take place within the context of an evolving open world" and there are other experiences in the works for Mavericks: Proving Grounds.

The development team is aiming for launch by end of this year and there's a lot to Mavericks that hasn't been revealed as of yet. The game will be built on SpatialOS, which also powers the previously announced Destiny-esque Scavengers from Midwinter Entertainment.
