There is no video game franchise I’m more connected to than the NHL series. I’ve been playing since 1993, and I haven’t missed a single game since then. Some I’ve played more than others, but each September I know I’m getting a new NHL game and new opportunities to immerse myself in the franchise that lets me pretend I’m winning the Stanley Cup with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Go ahead with the jokes, but I’ll be doing it again when the NHL 19 release date rolls around.

NHL 19 Release Date

NHL 19 is releasing for the PS4 and Xbox One on September 14, 2018. That’s a Friday, so gamers with full-time jobs can rest easy knowing they’ll get to spend the weekend building up their HUT rosters and trying out NHL Ones, a new mode I discuss in my NHL 19 hands-on preview.

Like most games these days, players willing to put down a pre-order or a bit more cash can get access a few days before the masses. Pre-order the NHL®19 Legends Edition or NHL®19 Ultimate Edition and the game is yours to play on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. If you’re an EA Access member, you can play NHL 19 for up to 10 hours starting on Thursday, September 6, 2018. Should we call that the NHL 19 Influencer Edition?

During my brief hands-on time with NHL 19 I was impressed by the RPM Tech and how it improved the gameplay movement. Feel free to read my NHL 18 review, then come back near the NHL 19 release date this September to get my full thoughts on all the mechanics and modes in this year’s iteration. Everything that I’ve seen and played so far has me optimistic that we might be in for one of the better NHL games in recent years, but only time will tell.
