FromSoftware President Hints At New Armored Core Game In Development

The series could be seeing a renaissance soon enough.

It's been quite some time since we've seen a new Armored Core game. Some would say it's been too long. The last Armored Core title, in fact, was released in 2013: Armored Core: Verdict Day. Five years is enough time to go between releases, and could even prompt some to say that a franchise is dead or dying. That's not the case, at least according to From Software, and in fact the president himself could possibly have even hinted at a new game that's in development for the series.

During a recent interview with Famitsu, president Hidetaka Miyazaki was asked if any of the three new projects coming from the company (excluding Déraciné) would be a project regarding "those whose bodies are ready for combat." He didn't say no, leading many to believe that one of the games in development by From Software could in fact be a new Armored Core title. That entire thing is a reference to a Japanese meme, of course, and it seems Miyazaki knew exactly what was being asked.

It doesn't come a surprise that a new game could be in development, any way you slice it. From the job listing spotted a while back on a job recruitment site looking for folks to work on a new project from Verdict Day's director Naoyuki Takahashi to From Software assuring fans that the series isn't over, it looks like we just need to have patience and faith. These new developments are certainly a step in the right direction.

I was thinking the other day that the closest we're going to get to a new Armored Core game is Daemon X Machina on the Nintendo Switch. I'd lose my mind if they offered the ability to play the campaign in co-op.

Daemon X Machina has the mech designer as the Armored Core games. Wonder if he’d do both

4 Answer was great too- that was the Otogi of Armored Core, Miyazaki directed too.

Seconded, AC: For Answer was my favorite of the series, had enough juice to have air-to-air combat in bursts without going full space Gundam.

Yea fair enough, it changes the series a lot, I just liked the increased maneuverability vs having tons of arena matches reduced to "who flanks the other person faster" and the ponderous turn speed.

Basically I'm willing to trade increased feeling of mobility for slower tankier combat, at least on console.

The earlier games were better in offering that feeling of being a mech for hire, with the mission structure.

I love the Miyazaki ACs for the very spare, minimalist style. They’re the zen ACs.

Am I the only one who has never heard of this game series? Not saying it’s bad, but it’s certainly no mega man.

Yeah it's not dissimilar to Monster Hunter before World in that respect.

Niche game with a very, very dedicated and loyal fanbase.
