MP3.Com Deal With Universal
by Maarten Goldstein, Nov 14, 2000 1:16pm PSTOne of the first MP3 sites to sign an agreement with all the record companies. MP3.com has made a deal with the Universal Music Group that will end the suit against the company. MP3.com is paying $53.4 million to deliver the entire catalog of Universal on the My.MP3.com. The other big record companies (Sony, EMI, BMG, Warner) had already signed similar agreements. With this now settled, and BMG signing a deal with Napster, hopefully we won't be hearing much more about all the legal nonsense behind MP3 services soon.
