Glaze3D Interview

TechZone has posted an interview with one of the (Bit)boys behind that Glaze3D muscle-chip that has been much talked about, but not seen yet. Hrmm...quite a few assumptions here eh?

Q: Assuming the Voodoo4 is equal to 4 Obsidian boards running in tandem, or 8 Voodoo2 boards with a total external memory (SDRAM) of 96MB and a fill rate approaching 1000 mtexels/second, will the Glaze3D 1200 be able to compete?

A:Voodoo 2 does 90 MPIX/s, so Voodoo 4 would do 720 MPIX/s. At true color and with a 32-bit Z this would require 8.6 GB/s of memory bandwidth. This is not available without embedded DRAM and Voodoo 4 doesn’t use embedded DRAM. So Glaze3D definitely has more better performance.

  • Ok, what the hell kinda of is (quick paraphrase, so don\'t bite my head off for not quoting it perfectly), \"I think your image quality looks better then the T-Buffer anit-aliasing. Do you agree?\" Ummmmm.....am I missing something, failing to see the hidden brilliance of the questions, or reading it backwards or is that JUST PLAIN STUPID? \"No Bob, I don\'t think ours looks better.\" What do you think they are gonna answer? That was probably one of the most complete, but useless interviews in existence. I love how they compare their non-existent product to products which don\'t exist. The NV10 and Voodoo4 haven\'t released specs folks, how the hell can you compare them? And do they realy think that they are gonna have a product which will sweep the market so profoundly? Look, they may kick one of the two powerhouses around but not both. They have more in R&D than Bitboys has in it\'s company. Sorry no Voodoo Graphics repeat here boys. Man.....you almost feel used after that interview. There was so little in their besides \"I can theorize my product better than they can\" propaganda in it that it was nothing more than a PR strike. I love how the author is using that interview \"to get the true facts and the complete story.\" THERE ARE NO FACTS yet! Geez.....ok that\'s enough.
