Disgaea 5 Complete PC Delayed Days From Release After Full Access Granted via Demo

Disgaea pulls a Yakuza 6, with the demo now pulled.

Fans looking to enjoy Disgaea 5 Complete on PC this week have been left high and dry after a snafu with the game's demo. The game has now been delayed from May 7, which is less than a week away, to a "Summer 2018" date. This change comes right after publisher NIS America released a hefty demo for Disgaea 5 Complete that, to everyone's surprise, actually included the entire game.

The demo has now been pulled, and no one is able to access it now via PC. A similar mistake happened recently with Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, which also prompted Sega to pull the demo after releasing it, also pushing the official release back in the same manner. Now, if you were looking to enjoy the quirky strategy title, you'll be waiting a little while to see it.

Players reported that they were able to continue playing all the way through Chapter 3, the cutoff point that the game demo should have stopped at. But it turned out the demo actually contained all the important game files that allowed for continued progress, as well as DLC, which was accessible all with a few edits to game code. NIS America didn't own up to the issue until revoking the demo access from Steam users who had already gotten it, then pulling its listing entirely. The company released the following statement:

“As beta testing has been ongoing, we have been fixing bugs and issues as they were discovered. While working on corrections last night, we came across a new issue that requires additional attention that will take more time to resolve,” NIS America says of the delay.

“Unfortunately, until this issue can be resolved, the release date will be postponed, and we are now targeting a release for Summer 2018. We offer our sincerest apologies to all who have been looking forward to this release of the game.”

Hopefully fans will be able to get their hands on the game soon, but we'll be left waiting around for a new release date until then.
