Game of the Week

For as well as the London Spitfire have played all season, they've seemed to have found their demon in the form of the Los Angeles Gladiators. The Gladiators went into last week having beaten the Spitfire in all of their encounters this season. This meeting proved to be no different.

The Gladiators set the tempo quickly, with Lane "Surefour" Roberts leading the Los Angeles squad in an early stomping on Volskaya Industries. Los Angeles cruised to an early win on the offensive round, with the defense stepping up near the end. Meanwhile, the London Spitfire were playing completely out of sorts, especially without star player Kim "Birdring" Ji-hyeok, who is currently out with a wrist injury. The Spitfire couldn't keep up with the fireball Gladiators offense and also displayed a number of communication issues, losing twice in the early goings with crushing C9s. (A "C9" is where a team on offense will accidentally abandon the payload during an Overtime push, ending the match.)

London came back fierce in the second half, tying up the series and forcing a tiebreaker map. Unfortunately, that tiebreaker map was Oasis, where London has fared terribly all year. London continued to struggle on this map, allowing former Spitfire player Chan-hyung "Fissure" Baek to run wild with his Winston.

One team looks to be on the rise, while another is on the ropes. Check out the game if you missed it below.

But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
