How Valve Became King
by Steve Gibson, Nov 10, 2000 4:49am PSTThe Tech-Report has an interesting article looking at how 'Valve Became King'. They praise Valve for all the work that has gone into supporting the online gameplayers and take a number of jabs at id.

Interview with Kenneth Scott. The cool part is there a bunch of shots of some new player models/player model concept sketches from Team Arena. Some of them look perfectly BADASS (so long as you like the funkier, monster models from Q3A like Uriel, Klesk, Sorlag etc)
its supposed to be new and improved AI
also i think they use the new md4 model format which uses skeletal animation.
i dont plan on buying the mission pack unless i hear it is crazy good
I KISS YOU.

He makes some valid points for sure but, all that fuss over $29? Come on. I spend that much ON MYSELF just about any time I go out to a nice dinner. It would be nice if Team Arena was going to be free but I'm not really sweating it.
What about you fuckers? Anybody here really THAT pissed off that Team Arena will cost $29? (probably less for actual street prices)

it better have four times the content of q3a, and have bots that can wash my dishes/laundry while doing my homework and fragging
and stuff.
Yes it bloody well is! Valve still haven't fixed bugs in the Half-Life engine which were reported about a week after it was released and are still listed on the Half-Life bug page, wherever it is. Stuff like the sound going and never coming back (without exiting multipler) if you switch to the desktop, or the sound channels swapping over after using the menus. God dammit!
(Unless the most recent patch has *finally* fixed this, which there was no mention of in the readme file. I've not been able to play online games for the past month and a half so haven't tried it.)
on-line tekken! that would kick ass! lag would suck tho.
