EVE Fanfest 2019 Skips Iceland In Favor of Multi-Location Tour, Including A Fan's Home

Looks like you won't have to travel all the way to Reykjavík to enjoy the celebration next year.

EVE Fanfest has taken place in Iceland, specifically Reykjavik, for quite some time. In fact, EVE Fanfest 2018 was just there, welcoming rabid fans to chat about all things EVE Online. Organizers CCP Games have, however, determined that next year's convention will actually be taken on the road next year, making multiple stops throughout the length of the event. One stop will even take place in one very special EVE Online player's home.

If you think you should be that lucky EVE fan, you'll get a chance to send off a video to CCP to convince them to hold Fanfest in your own living room. There aren't any details at present as far as what kind of video this needs to be, nor have the official rules been posted, but CCP says they're coming. You'll probably want to make sure you have a big enough living room to accommodate everyone, though, because all the normal events that take place during the fest will also be held there: a keynote, demos, roundtables, and more. These will be scattered throughout areas near your home, but it might feel a little cramped. Still, it's an awesome opportunity, right?

Iceland may be leaving the list of EVE Fanfest locations, but there are similar events being hosted for Australia, Europe, Las Vegas, and possible even parts of the east coast for US fans. If you've never been to an EVE Fanfest event, there's a ton of stuff to see and plenty of information from developers just up for the taking, and some quirky things for mega fans too. A couple of players even got married at this year's event. How could you top that?

It'll be interesting to see how the new EVE Fanfest plays out, especially with the new splintered method of taking the show on the road. We'll have to wait and see what happens next year. In the meantime, though, you can check out our EVE Fanfest 2018 coverage, complete with dev interviews and more. See you out in space!
