EVE Fanfest 2018 is a yearly celebration of everything related to the space exploration MMORPG, and this year Shacknews was there covering all the big news. In addition to announcing a new free expansion for the game in the form of Into the Abyss, new spinoffs were confirmed as well. But there's even more than that going on behind the scenes at any given moment.

We sat down with game designer Linzi "CCP Affinity" Campbell to chat about her role, which is a very important one -- working on Team Genesis, she helps handle new player and onboarding features.

"Ideas can come from all different places in the company," Campbell explained. "There's actually a dedicated lore team at CCP and they work with feature teams."

Campbell went over some of the more involved processes that go into putting the systems, events, and ideas you see that go into EVE Online in general. You may not think much about everything that goes into the game behind the scenes, but there's a massive amount of collaboration.
