Super Smash Bros. Officially Teased for Nintendo Switch

Super Smash Bros. is indeed coming to Nintendo Switch and we're set to learn more later this year.

Thursday's Nintendo Direct looked like it was going to wrap up with Splatoon 2 and its new single-player expansion. In fact, Nintendo was well on its way to wrapping things up with what appeared to be a Splatoon 2 sizzle reel.

Then the Super Smash Bros. logo appeared.

Yes, it looks like Nintendo is doing more than porting the Wii U version of the game over. It looks like there's something new in store for Smash Bros. fans and the first of the new playable characters appear to be the Inklings from Splatoon.

This is the teasiest of teasers, so there's no further word on Smash Bros. just yet, including whether this will be an entirely new game or the Wii U game with a few new bells and whistles. But look for new information about Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo Switch to be unveiled later in 2018.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
