Capcom Pro Tour 2018 Schedule for Street Fighter 5 Detailed

Several esports seasons have gotten underway over the first few months of 2018. Over the next couple of weeks, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will join them. On Monday, Capcom revealed the full 2018 schedule for the Capcom Pro Tour, while also announcing a few tweaks to the tour's qualificiation rules.

There's already one entrant to this year's Capcom Cup and that's defending champion MenaRD (Saul Leonardo Mena Segundo). He will be competing in tournaments throughout the year for his seeding placement, but his ticket to the big dance is already punched. Other ways to qualify for the 2018 Capcom Cup involve qualifying through the Capcom Pro Tour Global Leaderboard. This is where things are going to be a little bit different:

"As far as the points system, we've adjusted the CPT point values this year to better streamline and balance the point distribution after evaluating last year's results," reads the Capcom Pro Tour website. "Similar to last year, the overall goal is to have more logical weighting around events, the amount of points rewarded, and the number of players that receive points. As such, for 2018, more significance will be placed on winning Global Premier Events. We've also reduced the amount of players who are eligible for Capcom Pro Tour points."

The majority of tour points will be awarded at Evo 2018, 14 Premier Events, and four Regional Finals.

Those who are on the outside looking in by the time the Capcom Cup rolls around still have one last chance to get in. That's through the Capcom Cup Last Chance Qualifier, which will make its return from last year. The most recent LCQ winner was Naoki "Nemo" Nemoto, who went on to make a lot of noise in the tournament itself, ultimately finishihng in third place.

Evo 2018 is set to take place from August 3-5 and, as has been tradition with the CPT, will award the most points. (First place will earn 1750 points, as opposed to a Premier's 700 points.) As for the rest of the Capcom Pro Tour schedule, it looks like this:

The Street Fighter V season begins with Final Round 20 on March 16 and there will be a lot of new blood and new characters to watch out for.
