In an unusual turn of events, this week's Modojo Rewind is packed with a higher-than-typical amount of mobile-oriented news. It's not that Nintendo didn't have any news on offer — we still learned about loads of new Nintendo Switch titles planned to release later this month and year. It's just that the news cycle, much like with jazz music, is prone to change direction at any given time. Unlike jazz, however, the Modojo Rewind is here to lay out all these fresh details in a way that won't disorient and frustrate the receiver.

Post up by your ride and prepare for a hearty scoop of news as we crank the mids on this week's Modojo Rewind.

Dropping In With Big N

Aside from reveals of new titles landing on the Nintendo Switch, this week has seen some curious new information that should please Big N's biggest fans. In particular, Image & Form is bringing the SteamWorld series back home to portable Nintendo hardware, with the developer revealing that SteamWorld Dig 2 will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS next week.

For the Switch, fans should be expecting a solid serving of platforming soon, as de Blob will be making a series debut on Nintendo's hybrid handheld. Those interested in Labo will also be happy to see that Nintendo has revealed an all-new four-minute video giving extra details regarding projects and construction with the Nintendo Labo Variety Kit.

Last but certainly not least, we've got an all-new review for Dandara, the genre-bending platformer-of-sorts that released for PC and consoles in December but didn't debut on the Nintendo Switch until earlier this month. If you're curious as to whether or not Long Hat House's unique action title might suit your fancy, be sure to give this one a read.

Mobile Smorgasbord

The mobile news scene has been popping, and the stories on offer here range all the way from exciting to frustrating. Toward the latter end, we've taken a look at why everyone hates the new Snapchat update. Though we certainly can't confirm the notion, it'd be easy to assume through use of the app that the latest update's changes were made without any real consideration to the end-user experience. Fortunately, the same can't be said for the newest Android update, the details of which are outlined in our guide to the bug fixes and other changes introduced in the latest Android 8.1.0 update for Pixel and Nexus devices.

Mobile game fans looking to nab a new experience have been treated to some good news this week, as developer T-Bull has released Nitro Racing GO for iOS and Android devices. It's a unique racing title in that it brings together elements from a few different genres, and it's available now as a free-to-play app. Mobile fans can also check out our review for Florence, the new title from Ken Wong's development studio Mountains. And if bang-for-buck value is any measure of appeal, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS devices is currently one of the more interesting buys on the market, as Capcom has slashed its price down nearly 75%.

If a new way to play sounds interesting, fans can now scoop up the all-new Gamevice Minecraft Edition bundle, which couples together the Gamevice controller accessory with the iOS version of Minecraft as well as a special Minecraft-themed carrying case. AT&T is also currently running a deal that allows Apple fans to scoop up the new iPhone X in a buy one, get one free promotion. Console players can also now check out the new Xbox Live party chat app, which basically does what the title implies. Beyond that, Pokemon Go players also have access to a new update that adds a powerful new creature via the game's latest Lunar New Year event.

Today is also the last day that CCG fans can pick up the elite new premium alternate Grisly Gourmet card within The Elder Scrolls: Legends. The card is being offered up as a bit of a Valentine's Day promotion, and players who have made consistent logins each day this month will be eligible to receive up to three copies of the unique variant.
