The virtual reality software ecosystem continues to grow in number and quality and so shall HTV Vive's Viveport platform. HTC believes that its unlimited VR gaming service is offering the best value in VR today and will be raising the price, but the company is offering players a chance to lock in the lower price before it changes.

If you've yet to sign up for Viveport, you can do so before March 22 and enjoy a 14-day free trial. If you continue your subscription from there, you'll pay the lower $6.99 subscription price monthly until the end of 2018 at least. New or old, you'll have to pay the new $8.99 price per month if you subscribe after March 22 with new customers still receiving a 14-day trial before doing so.

Viveport currently features over 375 titles for players to access with their Viveport subscriptions and creators on the Viveport platform will reap some the benefits of this price increase. They'll receive 28% more per member subscribed to their titles. For the players, a couple new perks are being rolled out to enhance the Viveport experience.

  • All members will receive exclusive FREE codes for games and apps, starting in February and then regularly during the year
  • All Weekend Deals on Viveport – offering discounts on apps and games you’ll want to add permanently to your Viveport library – will now only be available to members

The first members-only weekend deal will go live soon (stay tuned to Shacknews for that update) and more perks will be announced in the future. If you subscribe, you'll get access to games like Overkill VR, The Wizards, and Fantastic Contraption, which you can see in action below.
