Are There Classes In Kingdom Come: Deliverance?

How do skills and weapon acuity work in the medieval sandbox RPG from Warhorse Studios? Is there character creation?

0

Kingdom Come: Deliverance thrust players into the shoes of Henry, a blacksmith's son who can become so much more over the length of the game. There's no character creation in Deliverance and you'll be shaping the skillset of Henry while he develops throughout the story, but are there specific classes that you can build him into? No, but there's still a lot of freedom to play exactly how you want to play the game.

Skills

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is built upon a system that organically evolves depending on how the player chooses to play. The more you do any particular thing, the better and more adept at it you become. Habits will form as you play and you'll see each thing advance, but you can find characters that will train you in your desired subject. For example, you'll have to head to a faraway village and visit the town's scribe early on if you want to learn to read. Reaching out to an expert can put you on the fast track for each skill or, at least, show you a space for practice. A particular character that teaches Lockpicking, for example, gives you a trunk that you can repeatedly lockpick to gain experience.

  • Drinking
  • Herbalism
  • Horsemanship
  • Hunting
  • Lockpicking
  • Maintenance
  • Pickpocketing
  • Reading
  • Stealth

Combat Acuity

The organic progression applies to weapons and combat, as well. For instance, using a bow and arrow early on results in fairly unsteady aiming and requires the player to equip specific gear while using bows so they don't injure themselves. If you use it against enemies, hunt with them, engage in archery contents, or even just go to the archery range and hit the targets, the player will gain experience for every successful shot. The better the shot, the more quickly the player advances. At certain levels, there are bonuses within a skill that you can select. Some things naturally happen as you improve as well, like not needing additional equipment to use a bow once you reach level five. All of the skills are listed here:

  • Defence
  • Warfare
  • Axe
  • Bow
  • Mace
  • Sword
  • Unarmed
