With the amount of armor available in Monster Hunter World, it's hard not to be satisfied with the available choices to outfit your character. You can mix and match or throw on a full set, and it's rare to go on a multiplayer quest or expedition and see two hunters dressed the same. Still, customization is a major consideration for players, so being able to change the armor pigment of your character is an appreciated feature. Today, I'll explain how you can change the pigment of your armor in just a few short seconds.

How to change armor pigment

Armor Pigment Monster Hunter World

If you're looking to change the color (or pigment) of your armor you won't be able to while grinding through the Low Rank content in Monster Hunter World. You must first progress far enough that you unlock High Rank content. It’s also important to note that you cannot change the color or pigment of Low Rank armor. Even after you unlock High Rank content, you must first craft a set of high rank armor for your character.

Assuming you meet the criteria, the process to changing your armor pigment in Monster Hunter World is refreshingly simple. Approach an Item Box in either Astera or Seliana. The list that pops up will have Change Appearance on the bottom, followed by Change Armor Pigment. Select that option and the rest is self-explanatory. Choose a part of your body to alter, or choose to alter the entire set at once. Try the rainbow pigment, if you have it unlocked.

Change Palico armor pigment

What you may not realize is that you can also change the armor color of your Palico in Monster Hunter World. This is not done through the Item Box, but rather the Smithy. Leave your room and head to the next level to find the Smithy. While you’re in the menu that allows you to forge Palico equipment, the option will be there to change its armor pigment. The catch to this is once again you must have your Palico equipped with High Rank armor. Low Rank armor will not provide you the option to change its color.

The best part about changing armor pigment in Monster Hunter World is that it’s free, and you can do it as often as you’d like. There is no crafting required. It doesn’t cost Research Points, Zenny, or materials. You can experiment with it endlessly until you find that exact look that you’re seeking.
