Annapurna Interactive has announced that Florence, the next game from Monument Valley designer Ken Wong, is soon to release for iOS devices. Created by Wong's new development studio Mountains, Florence explores a series of moments in the life of Florence Yeoh, a young woman who swept up in a new relationship. The game is based around a number of gameplay vignettes, each of which exploring particular highs and lows of romantic entanglement. For a more specific description, here's the plot outline as provided by Annapurna:

"At 25, Florence Yeoh feels a little stuck. Her life is an endless routine of work, sleep, and spending too much time on social media. Then one day, she meets a cello player named Krish who changes everything about how she sees the world."

According to Ken Wong, Florence is an attempt to explore the complex emotions of romantic relationships through the medium of game design. The story itself is meant to fluctuate both up and down, and those shifting feelings are provided to players in the form of gameplay vignettes showcasing different moments throughout Florence's relationship with Krish. Wong has stated that this style was at least partially inspired by various graphic novels and webcomics, and players will likely see some of that reflected in the game's latest trailer, featured below.

There won't much be much of a wait before players can explore the life and mind of Florence, as Mountains' story of love is set to release next Wednesday, February 14, better known to some as Valentine's Day. Players can also preorder Florence right now over on the Apple App Store, where it costs just $2.99.
