Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 May Be Coming This Year, Even To Switch

The most recent CoD took us back to the roots, but the next one may return to the future with the next entry in the Black Ops series.

Shareholders were satiated with a return to roots in the most recent Call of Duty. WW2 is doing the rounds in the eSports scene, but it looks like Activision may be dipping their toe back into a more modern CoD with the upcoming Call of Duty release rumored to be Black Ops 4.

The rumor surfaced when self-proclaimed industry insider Marcus Sellars revealed the details on his Twitter account. Eurogamer picked up the story and has confirmed with multiple sources that this year's Call of Duty is Black Ops 4. While the game itself is no surprise, the fact that it is coming to Nintendo Switch is. Sellars says that it will support DLC, HD Rumble, and motion controls. The port for Switch is being created by a company familiar with CoD games.

COD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4/Xbox/PC/Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground. The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble and motion controls. The Switch version is also being ported by a company which is familar with COD games.

The first Black Ops was when the Call of Duty franchise was at its peak and, hopefully, this next iteration continues a trend to reclaim the franchise's identity like it did with WW2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is rumored to be launching on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime later this year.

  That would be interesting seeing as how CODBLOPS2 and Ghosts came to Wii U but then subsequent entries did not. So to come back to a Nintendo platform says something.

  Black Ops 2 is still my favorite game in the entire CoD series, by a large margin. It would be super nice if this could live up to the bar that game set.
  
  BO3 started very strong but was ruined by balancing issues and Pay-to-win mechanics. If they can avoid those things in 4 (while still making a solid game) then I may be enticed to return to CoD after several years away.

    I really liked the first Black Ops with the number stations but two left me really cold and I haven't bought 3.

      Black Ops 2 introduced the Pick 10 system which was a dramatic improvement over the previous loadout systems, and in many ways was superior to the variations that many of its successors have used.

    There’s something about the BLOPS and Warfare series that get me excited to play CoD again. The combat just typically feels good...minus some of the kill streak perks.
