It's almost time to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Overwatch once again.

It's time once again to celebrate an Eastern custom in Overwatch. The Lunar New Year update is now officially set to arrive next week.

The Overwatch Twitter account has pointed to a February 8 start date for the Year of the Dog, but there are no further details beyond this. This is simply acting as a "Save the Date" for the Overwatch fan base.

Last year's Year of the Rooster event introduced several new costumes and a Capture the Rooster mode, which took teams atop Lijiang Tower for a variation of the classic Capture the Flag mode.

Overwatch Game Director first spoke of the Lunar New Year event back during the January Developer Update, only noting that the Year of the Dog would feature "pretty significant content that players will be pretty happy with."

Shacknews will come back with more information on the Lunar New Year update as it arrives, so stay tuned.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
