Star Wars Battlefront 2 Pledges More Progression System Changes in March

Unsurprisingly, there are still some big changes ahead for Star Wars Battlefront II.

There's no way of sugarcoating this. Star Wars Battlefront II has had a rough two months. Its predatory pay-to-win microtransactions were heavily scrutenized before they were eventually discounted and later halted altogether. It also received mixed reviews from various critics, with the foundation of the pay-to-win spirit still noticeable throughout Battlefront II's multiplayer. With all of this in mind, Star Wars Battlefront II's post-launch support is still going, but there are still yet more fixes that are aiming to be made.

"We're working on a revamped progression system," reads the Battlefront II website. "Your feedback has been essential here, and we are preparing significant changes to progression that will address many of the things we've seen players asking for. We'll be sharing more details about these changes in March."

March sounds like a long way from now, but in the meantime, players can expect to see a new game mode called Jetpack Cargo in February. This will see two teams of eight players do battle with jet packs. A new Season is also incoming, with user feedback from the first Season taken into account, so expect to see some changes there, as well.

Shacknews will keep a watch on the eventual progression system changes and whether they make things better or worse. (Please, not "worse.") In the meantime, DICE has issued an infographic, naming the First Order as the winner of Season 1. The Resistance is on the ropes, much like through most of The Last Jedi, so let's see if they can make a comeback in Season 2.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
