Game players and Nintendo fans have a lot to be happy about these days — the Nintendo Switch has proven itself to be a massively-popular piece of hardware, and it continues to see consistent new video game releases as well as a steady influx of solid ports of older titles. The latter is the case here, as Strikers 1945 II, the follow-up entry to the hit shooter title from 1997, is about to make a spirited landing on Nintendo's hybrid console.

This news may come as little surprise to some players, as the original Strikers 1945 was released for the Nintendo Switch back in August of last year. Since then, developer Zerodiv has been working on porting the game over to the Nintendo Switch with all of the usual bells and whistles intact. In the latest version, fans will still find loads of white-knuckle vertical-scrolling shooter action packed to the brim with World War 2-era aircraft, including such standout planes as the J7W Shinden, Ki84 Hayate, and the Focke-Wulf Ta152.

All of the tense action that series fans have come to expect will be present, including a grand total of six different fighter planes and all manner of machine guns, bombs, lasers, and other powerful ordinance. The game will also support the regular gameplay mode alongside TATE mode, and comes complete with old-school tweaks like the option to add retro-inspired scanlines. There won't be much of a wait before Nintendo fans can get their schmup on, either, as Strikers 1945 II is slated to make landfall on the Nintendo Switch on Thursday, January 25.
