and #129 "...and god forbid... some RPG" do you mean GOOD RPG? like the FF series on NES and SNES? well, good luck..FF has sucked ass since they released the first PSX FF.They should be called cinematic RPG simulators.Playstation FFs consist of loads of boring text and lame CG movies with poor gameplay between cutscenes...I hope Square got that bullshit out of their system with the FF movie, maybe they will go back to making playable GAMES.I know hat Sony is good for..playing my Xbox, Gamecube, and DC on my Sony 19" 420GS....really, once Xbox comes out..what good is a PS2?

hahahahhaha! N64 sucked so bad, PSX couldn't help but do well.I found very few good games on PSX.Games like Final fantasys which WERE good on SNES now suck on PSX.Trying to find a good game on PSX is like trying catch falling brownies in your mouth during a turd storm.PS2 will be the same..except there will be more turds since developers hate PS2.
I have played plenty of PS2 and I have 2 friends who actually bought one..we all agree that it ISN't all that great..and you are better off waiting about 5 or 6 months to get one becuase NO good games are coming out for a long time.We have already played Jet Grind Radio and NBA2K1 10 time more than we have played on their PS2s..and in a week they will come over to watch some Shen Mue.For some reason DVD movies look MUCH better on my player than their PS2s..LOL

If the PS2 can do this then it doesn't have THAT much to worry about. It will all come down to the games.

The history tends to repeat itself. Remember PS1, they had a big overheating problem with first shipment of Playstations then later they fixed it. Well looks like it happens again but now its DVD’s playback. Just remember if you bought PS2 it’s better return it now ‘cause when new shipment will come in, stores will stop accepting PS2s back. They will not even take them for a trade in. Anyway Uncle Tera learned his lesson and waits ‘til the fixed PS2s will come. And while Sony at fixing stuff I think adding 8 or 16 megs of VRAM to the PS2 wouldn’t hurt either.

Have you seen those PS2 ads that are set in the future and show the "PS9" and how it has telepathic powers and can put you in a virtual world? Then it says at the bottom "now the beginning......' or something like that and shows a PS2 logo, but no actual PS2 game footage. I was laughing my ass off at that one.

Also, I bet the DVD movies and games worked fine on those returned PS2s..those ppl just had to make up an excuse..most places won't take back something if you say " This is dumb as well as gay, can I please have my 300+ wasted dollars back"?

I also saw something on fox sports network about all the new games EA is doing for the PS2. Some of them looked pretty good graphically and I assume they will play like all other EA sports games

OK, I have played plenty of TTT and it is a pathetic game....It's like they were going to make a better version of the arcade TTT and only got half way..very poor game.If you already have Tekken 3 don't bother getting TTT.DoA2 has a MUCH better TAG mode.Also, if you have the DC version of DoA2 DO NOT get the PS2 version, you already have the better version.well, better yet DON'T get a PS2, keep your DC because , unlike PS2, it will have GOOD games coming out all this year and well into next year..plus broadband is coming in Jan. Then get a Gamecube only if you want games that will be gamecube only..games mostly by Nintendo and Rare...and Metroid by Retro.Then get Xbox, like I said before, developers jumped on the PS2 bandwagon for a short time only, they just needed a ride to the Xbox bandwagon station where games are less trouble to make.Xbox will have every game PS2 has plus more and the Xbox versions will be MUCH better than the PS2 versions..Square has already said it will make Xbox games so that is one HUGE loss for PS2.See?PS2 IS blair witch 2, sony made so much money off of PSX that they had to THROW together a sequel just to cash in on the "playstation" name.Really, they couldn't come up with a new name?I see bad things for sony..it is only a matter of time before even the fanboys start to get bored with the lack of good software.

"The amount of VRAM is pretty irrelevant"???? That's what Sony thinks and it's the biggest mistake they've ever made in console market. The amount of VRAM is soooo relevant that Sony will probably end up paying the price for it by losing to Microsoft. Around 16 megs of VRAM with fast bandwidth could be the factor in PS2 architecture that would stand up to X-Box but 4 megs??? ItÂ’s a fucking joke. If you donÂ’t believe me than lets just wait and see. Uncle Tera is usually very good at predicting these things. Only a very few times I was wrong.

48,51, & 60 - Extended warranties DO work guys & that whole thing with a system with a couple of rounds in it is displayed in a sealed glass case at EB's Corporate office (I worked for EB and saw it myself). With thier warranty (EB's) you get a BRAND-NEW system off of the shelf (otherwise they order it from the warehouse; they have an allotment for warranty replacement). With Sony, you have to send your system back to them and give the $60 to fix it plus you pay for shipping. EB can return 20% of it's products to the supplyier without financial penalty. Sure you pay $45 for a 2 year replacement but think about it.. a controller for PSX2 cost $35 dollars. If your controller craps out on you, your stuck buying a new controller for 35 dollars. Why not spend the extra 10 bucks and get to replace your controller for 2 years as many times as you need during that period?

The more I think about this story.. the more I have to laugh at the idiots who payed $1500+ on Ebay for what might be a defective, UNRETURNABLE machine. bwahahah

I bought the extended 4 year warranty for $40 on my $300 discman... I've brought it in 3 times already to be re-conditioned after I drop it or blow my headphones or some shit. A pretty good deal considering I would have lost 4 discman's by now if I hadn't paid for the warranty.

Buying that warranty shit on speaker etc.. is where they make the real $$$$.
