Netflix Deletes Tweet Stating There Are 'No Plans' For Nintendo Switch App

Switch players shouldn't be expecting a Netflix app any time soon.

Streaming video service Netflix runs on so many devices these days that it's easy to take it for granted. The Nintendo Switch is not one of those devices, though — ever since the hybrid system first released, owners have been eagerly awaiting their own version of Netflix, and it just hasn't arrived. What's worse, Netflix recently took to Twitter saying that there was "no plans" to release Netflix for the Nintendo Switch.

In a tweet that has since been removed, Netflix responded to a question posed by Twitter account Nintendo Screens who asked if there was any word on when Netflix would hit the Switch. This was the original response given:

Hey there! There are currently no plans for Netflix on Nintendo Switch. We appreciate your feedback on it! *JF

Naturally, the internet wasn't thrilled about such a firm shutdown to the possibility of bringing the service to the Switch, and Netflix has since deleted the original tweet and posted a new official response:

The new response certainly sounds more optimistic than the last, but for the time being, it seems there are no firm plans to make the Netflix service part of the overall Nintendo Switch experience. Until then, the Switch's crisp 6.2-inch touch screen will have to be used the way it was intended, playing all the latest and most highly-rated Nintendo Switch titles, the likes of we discuss in our recent debate of the best games of 2017.

I think I'm with the many here in that I have no interest in netflix on the switch. I want it to remain dedicated to gaming, not a tablet.

As long as it’s just some app in the store I’m fine with it. They need to keep the UI stripped down like it is now.

I want it simply for convenience. I'm not interested in Netflix for handheld mode but on TV mode it would be great so I don't have to change over to another device

what exactly will be compromised in the Switch experience by there being an icon in the store that exists to download a game that only plays videos?

But it's not like you have to download it
