A new year means a new round of free games for PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold members.

The holiday deals from the console makers have ended... for the most part. PlayStation is at the tail end of its Holiday Sale, offering a handful of deals for Week 4. Meanwhile, Xbox is offering a couple of deals for both Gold and non-Gold members, while Nintendo is taking the Azure Striker Gunvolt series and putting it on sale.

This weekend is also noteworthy because it's the first to feature the fresh round of freebies from both Xbox and PlayStation. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Batman: The Telltale Series await PlayStation 4 owners, while Xbox One owners can run through the end of the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing trilogy.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
