The Independent Games Festival is celebrating a milestone in 2018. This is the IGF's 20th awards ceremony and this year, it continues honoring the best in indie gaming. Awards will be handed out on March 21 during the annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA.

Already a big winner is Baba is You from student developer Hempuli Oy, which leads all games with four nominations, including the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. For those unfamiliar, Baba is You is a top-down puzzle game with the hook being that the rules of the world are present in every level as a physical object. Created with Multimedia Fusion 2, it won at the Nordic Game Jam 2017 and a full-fledged Steam version is set to release later this year. Let's watch the trailer.

Over 300 judges reviewed roughly 600 entries and came away with 35 nominated games. Here is the full list of nominees, via the Independent Games Festival website:

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
