Developer Mouldy Toof Studios and publisher Team17 had a hit on their hands when Chris Davis' throwback strategy game The Escapists first landed on the gaming scene in 2014. Since then, the Escapists universe has expanded to include new title The Escapists 2, which released for the usual modern systems back in August of this year. Now that a few months have passed, the game is just about ready to make its Switch debut: Team17 will release The Escapists 2 for the Nintendo Switch on January 11.

This latest version of the game is set to include the series' now-familiar prison life action, including exploring rooms, tunnels, and vents looking for the right method to escape. On the Switch, The Escapists 2 will feature split screen cooperative play where each player needs only use a single Joy-Con. Additionally, online multiplayer games with up to four players will be supported complete with the ability for players to drop in and out of matches at will.

At a suggested retail price of $19.99, The Escapists 2 represents good value for the Switch, particularly considering the relative price of other recent ports to the system. Eager players will be able to secure their copies early, too, as pre-orders for the game will open up through the Nintendo Switch eShop storefront on January 4.
