The 3D-based platformer Yooka-Laylee has been delighting players since its release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam back in April of this year, earning praise for everything from its colorful visuals to its fun-for-all-ages action. Its greatness was meant for more than just PC gaming, of course, and developer Playtonic Games eventually announced that the game would be coming to the PlayStation 4 and even the Nintendo Switch. Now, we've finally been given a firm release date for the game's Switch launch as well as information on how much the game will cost.

Nintendo Switch players will be able to get their hands on Yooka-Laylee next week on December 14. The Switch version has been overhauled with the help of Nintendo and Team 17 to provide a completely up-to-date and polished version of the adventure complete with all of the game's previous updates as well as a couple of special features for Nintend-minded gamers. Among these new features are support for gameplay through a single Joy-Con as well as enhancements to movement and camera control.

"The Playtonic team have spent many, many months optimising Yooka-Laylee for Nintendo Switch and we believe we're delivering a version Nintendo fans can be proud of," Playtonic director Gavin Price told Eurogamer. "Players can expect a quality experience both on and away from the television and on top of that, Switch players will benefit from the huge list of updates we've added since launch such as a brand new camera mode, control improvements, menu options, music... and a lot more!"

Now that the game is finally reaching its release date, we have also gotten word on its price: the Switch version of Yooka-Laylee will run for $39.99, the same price as the other versions for Steam and Xbox One cost through digital storefronts. PlayStation 4 players, on the other hand, can currently take advantage of a discounted price of around $20 for American players.
