PlayStation Anthology Book Delves Into History of Sony, Original PlayStation
The book is available in classic (standard) and collector's editions, and collects dozens of interviews with PS1 developers.
PlayStation Anthology, a hardcover book that explores the history of Sony and its inaugural and groundbreaking PlayStation console, is now available from Montmorency, France-based publishing house Geeks-Line. PlayStation Anthology was written by a group of authors and crowdfunded on Kickstarter. The book is available in a standard "Classic" edition, as well as a collector's edition that features extra material.
"The PlayStation Anthology offers a wealth of fascinating facts and insight into the development of the PlayStation console, the people behind the machine, the games, along with the complete collector's guide to 4500 titles released in every territory," per a press release sent to Shacknews.
Geeks-Line notes that the collector's guide is only available in the Collector's Edition format of PlayStation Anthology.
So far, Geeks-Line has made good on its promise to deliver books that unearth the history of video games and hardware. Earlier books covered the history of Sega's Mega Drive (Genesis) console and the Nintendo 64. Each book includes photographs and screenshots that accompany each chapter. PlayStation Anthology features over two dozen interviews with movers and shakers from Sony as well as developers of PSX games.
"To fully appreciate the scale of the PlayStation phenomenon, readers will be given an insight in its genesis, the context in which it was developed, and understand the commercial and marketing power of Sony itself," reads the press release. "The PlayStation Anthology sheds light on the birth of the PlayStation and Sony, the company's triumph, as well as its shortcomings, strategies, technological advancements and, of course, its fantastical games library."
