A brand new co-op mode is coming at the start of Rainbow Six Siege's third year of content.

Rainbow Six Siege survived a turbulent launch and has continued to release quality content for the loyal community to experience. The typical content including new Operators and maps is coming with the Year Three updates, but this year will debut an all-new mode as well. Two of the new operators are biohazard specialists and players will get a glimpse at their work in a new zombie-riddled co-op mode called Mission Outbreak.

Mission Outbreak is a cooperative mode with a three-player cap. There aren't a ton of details on what this new mode will entail, but the mode will come with its own collection of cosmetic items to earn. The mission will be a part of the first season in Year Three. While zombies haven't explicitly been mentioned, the Operator's biohazard specialty and the use of "Outbreak" hints toward some sort of zombie encounter. There could be a unique twist on it based on other Operators but, no matter what the reveal shows, there's a lot of potential for some frightening monster gameplay with Siege's destructible environments.

In addition to Mission Outbreak, Year Three of Rainbow Six Siege will be broken into four seasons and will include the following:

  • 8 new operators from the world’s highly performing CTUs
  • 2 brand new maps set in Italy and Morocco
  • 1 existing map makeover with a new level design and art direction

The Year Three pass will be available on December 12, but current owners of Rainbow Six Siege will be able to experience Outbreak for free during a four week event period. Once the pass goes live, the Year Two pass and all its exclusive cosmetic items will go away. More details on Mission Outbreak will be revealed leading up to and during the Six Invitational 2018 that runs from February 13 to 18.
