The Exorcist: Legion VR Unleashes Virtual Hell Next Week

Is the world ready for an Exorcist experience in virtual reality?

The original "Exorcist" movie stands out as one of the greatest horror movies of all-time. And while subsequent sequels haven't hit the same success as their predecessor, the original film's concept is still one that resonates today. Now the idea of an episodic story-based game may sound like a decent idea, but what if it were to go the extra mile with virtual reality?

Developers Fun Train and Wolf & Wood are taking on that tall task, announcing on Tuesday that The Exorcist: Legion VR would be coming to both SteamVR and Oculus VR. This story will follow the narrative of "The Exorcist III," but tell its own standalone tale of a legion of demons coming, just as Pazuzu foretold back in the first movie. As a detective, players must investigate the demonic outbreak and prepare for the evil that's yet to come.

The first two chapters of The Exorcist: Legion VR, titled "First Rites" and "Idle Hands," are both slated to release on November 22. Each episode is set to run for $4.99, though the opening episode will get a 20 percent discount for the first week. Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
