It's pretty easy to be blown away by the spectacle and technical achievements of games like the open-universe sim Star Citizen, but there are games a bit closer to Earth that are doing some incredible things. Kingdom Come: Deliverance from Warhorse Studios is one such game and a new trailer shows the remarkable attention to detail being paid to this medieval sim.

The first-person combat has players attacking, parrying, and blocking from five different directions. Shields, one-of-three types of attacks, the type of weapon, and the type of armor you or your enemy is wearing will influence every strike. Taking things even further, stamina will be influenced by health and whether or not the player has eaten recently. Yup.

Warhorse Studios worked with experts to make the combat as realistic as possible while retaining a degree of fun and, thus far, it looks like they've accomplished their goal.

Deliverance is a first-person medieval simulator/action-RPG set in the Kingdom of Bohemia. Players adopt the role of the son of a blacksmith whose family is swept up when an invading army attacks after the King's brother betrays him. There are typical RPG roles to build your character around, though there is no traditional magic. A deep alchemy system will be included, though.

The detail in the combat system will be seen all over Kingdom Come: Deliverance; from the layers of clothing that you wear right down to the correct color of the chickens for the era. You'll be able to pick up your swords February 13, 2018, on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
