Nintendo Offers Link Green 2DS Bundle for Black Friday

A special Link version of the Nintendo 2DS and a limited edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are among Nintendo's Black Friday offerings for this year.

Now that November is officially here, it's time to start looking ahead to the many Black Friday deals set to hit retailers. Nintendo is wasting little time getting its offerings out of the way, announcing the special items that consumers can expect to find on select store shelves.

Perhaps there are handheld gamers that still haven't gotten into the Nintendo 3DS generation. Or better yet, perhaps there are parents that want to get their young children into Nintendo's handheld. For those people, Nintendo is offering up a special limited edition Nintendo 2DS, colored in Link green. The package comes with the green 2DS, AC adapter, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D pre-installed. The full bundle is set to run for $79.99.

Black Friday will also likely see people trying to score a Nintendo Switch. While there isn't a Switch bundle to report on, there is a special edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild set to hit store shelves. This package will come with the game, a physical two-sided map, and an Explorer's Guide that fleshes out the game's lore. This edition of Breath of the Wild will run for a standard $59.99

Black Friday begins on September 23. Nintendo has helpfully gathered up the necessary store links, which can be found on the Nintendo website.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Weird to see it's the old-style 2DS. The new one is much nicer.

It's a starter DS. They want you to buy the more expensive one too.

The New 2DS special editions will be for Pokemon, which makes sense since those cost more and will also sell way more.

They're covering all their bases for hardware, from $80 to $300. Mario Kart 7 and NSMB2 make more sense to me for a 2DS bundle but they've already done those, so I guess Ocarina Of Time works.

It makes sense, it just surprises me they'd keep the old 2DS in production. I guess it must just be really cost effective for them.

$80 is $80. Its the same reason Apple has five iPhones and four iPads right now, better to cover a very wide range of consumers rather than only be limited to flagships.

The 2DS is inexpensive, durable, probably costs nothing to produce these days, and it makes sense for a kid that beats their things up

Ocarina of Time 3D is a strange choice. I would think it would be A Link Between Worlds

One would think, but it's a cheap bundle so a remake also kind of makes sense.

And to be fair it's an excellent remake - it looks like you remember Ocarina looking, if that makes sense, rather than how it actually did. Everything in the game has been drastically remodeled and textured. Cylinder mapped interiors are now modeled 3D, and there are small improvements to gameplay throughout.

OOT is kind of a brutal choice for for a system for young kids.
