Animal Crossing Mobile Hits Nintendo Direct Tomorrow

Animal Crossing is getting a Direct all to itself as Nintendo states explicitly that no other games will be discussed.

Nintendo explained in great detail why Animal Crossing wouldn't be fit for smartphones back in 2014, expressing that the game's complexity wouldn't translate. Tomorrow, we'll be tuning into a Nintendo Direct fully focused on Animal Crossing mobile. Oh how far we have come.

Nintendo recognizes the immense potential of putting their major franchises on mobile platforms, like with Super Mario Run, which is why the discussion of moving Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing even came up before. In 2016, mobile versions of Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing were announced for Android and iOS and we're finally getting some more details for one of them after a couple delays

Tune in on Oct. 24 at 8:00 p.m. PT/11:00 p.m. ET for a roughly 15-minute Animal Crossing Mobile Direct video presentation. In the press release, Nintendo explained that there will be no updates on any other topics including other mobile, Nintendo Switch or Nintendo 3DS software.

I cannot wait for this. All I need to know is when I can buy it. I don't want to know anything else about the game.

Although Happy Home Designer wasn't as fun as I thought it would be. It seems like no matter what you do, as long as you put in furniture that is the theme, the animals love it. There's no real reason to make it look nice.

I'm not putting it past Nintendo to say "oh, and it's out now" at the end of the direct.

Actually it has for some of their smaller projects, 3rd party stuff, and dlc. I believe they view the entire smartphone line in that regard so it's possible. Most recently they announced in the September direct that Minecraft for the 3DS would be available right after the direct, for instance.

Grabbing some more it goes all the way back to the Feb 22, 2012 direct with Dillons Rolling Western released the same day. The July 18th Nintendo Direct went hand-in-hand with the virtual console release of Earthbound. I'm not saying it's common, it's just not something I would put past Nintendo.

I expect by the next game Tom Nook will be actively petitioning you for a top 0.01% friendly tax policy the second you become mayor. And then regardless of whether you put it into place or not he will begin tweeting bad things about you in his bid to build a toxic political base to fuel his competing run against you in the following election cycle.
