Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Patch Includes Spider-Man Combo Glitch Fix

Capcom is about to use the Reality Stone on one of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's most irritating glitches.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is set to get its first DLC characters next week, but before that, Capcom's crossover fighter will receive its first major post-release patch. While there are some balance tweaks included, the main fix addresses a painful(ly slow) infinite combo involving Spider-Man.

From the patch notes featured on Capcom-Unity:

When an opponent has been hit by three special "grab" projectiles in a single combo, they will automatically be affected by a spiral hit stun, causing them to be invincible and sent into the air. Players can also counter tag out of these attacks.

  • Affected moves:
    • Spider-Man - LP/HP Web Ball (including air versions)
    • Frank - LK/HK Hammer Throw

So what does this mean? It fixes an infinite combo where Spider-Man can hit his Web Ball and the Reality Stone Infinity Surge back-to-back, with no escape for the opponent. Take a look at the example below and brew some coffee, because it takes a while.

Other changes involve character-specific balance tweaks and bug fixes for Dante, Captain America, Dormammu, and Doctor Strange. Visit the aforementioned Capcom-Unity link for the full list of fixes. The patch will go live on PC and PlayStation 4 copies of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite on Monday, October 16, with the Xbox One version of the game set to receive it later.

But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Uh, except for at least the original game, and perhaps the second? I frequently saw the top-tier players at my local arcade playing Spidey as one of their mains, usually teamed up with Jin or Strider.

As a Spiderman main I'm glad they are going to patch the infinite combos out. Although I never used the surge glitch, I used the storm loops and it made me feel dirty. My man is still top tier though. Now if I could only find him a partner.

I'm already super tired of seeing Dante/Ultron and Dante/Gamora and Dormamu/Ultron. Sacktap got some interesting stuff and Sonic Fox working that Trash Panda.
I'm just glad people are finally branching out from all Reality Stone all the time.

Ha. I'd never actually seen that combo, just heard of it. Negative Damage? From the scaling? Is it counting as chip damage?

It's just the damage counter rolling over. Looks like it's stored in a 16-bit signed integer so it wraps around to negative once it goes over 32768.
