Fortnite Devs: Cheaters Are The 'Highest Priority' Across Epic Games

The free-to-play mode will be no breeding ground for cheaters as the development team seeks to get a handle on things early.

The Epic Games team dedicated to the development of Fortnite went very public with their plans to address cheaters previously. The team didn't give out details about exactly what constitutes a ban or permaban, but it looks like quite a few players have already hit the checklist. Thousands, even. With a new announcement, Epic has reiterated that Battle Royale cheaters are a high-priority and they'll be continuing to address in a few different ways.

Today's blog post from Epic is a short one focused entirely on nefarious players of the now free-to-play Battle Royale:

"To start, addressing cheaters in Fortnite is the highest priority across Epic Games. We are constantly working against both the cheaters themselves and the cheat providers. And it’s ongoing, we’re exploring every measure to ensure these cheaters are removed and stay removed from Fortnite Battle Royale and the Epic ecosystem. We don’t want to give too many clues about what we’re doing, but we are rolling out tools and will continue to do so. Thousands have been banned and we have no plans to stop!"

Community Coordinator Nathan Mooney adds that account progression in Battle Royale will roll out over the next several weeks and serve as another deterrent to cheaters likely due to the potential loss of earned content. Considering the game's community has surpassed 7 million players, the development team is going to have their work cut out for them.
