How did the Willow coin-op game differ from the more well-known NES version? Find out in this edition of Shack's Arcade Corner.
Willow, the high-fantasy film directed by Ron Howard and penned by Star Wars creator George Lucas spawned a number of game adaptations, each version differed from the others to varying degrees. The NES cartridge is arguably the most well-known, while the coin-op game was a different beast. Whereas NES players partook in an adventure-style game that shared more in common with Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda, the coin-op version was a platform game where players switch between different characters to get through obstacles.

Epic! Willow was one of my favorite Capcom games from the 89 - 90's era it was so good, easily part of Capcom's glory days in the Arcade's. I also was a massive fan of the movie it's a classic, I have it on Blu-Ray and watch it still all the time. I used to throw Acorns as kid but nothing ever happened :(
Huh interesting about the The Lord of the Rings & Willow, I think your right. Even the castle part and the mother Queen Bavmorda and that epic magic fight scene with the levitation = Sermon and his castle. So many things fit if you think about it. I bet it was, any ways I am glad it did not work out the movie is one of my favs growing up, suck if it never happened.
