Trey Parker and Matt Stone turned heads back in 2014 with the release of South Park: The Stick of Truth. The duo arguably delivered the best licensed property video game of all time. Featuring sharp writing and a look that was indistinguishable from the long-running series, The Stick of Truth wowed fans of the show. The game was much like a traditional RPG, but went rather light on most of the common RPG mechanics. The upcoming sequel, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, promises a whole new story with deeper RPG mechanics meant to satisfy critics who felt the original was too shallow on the gameplay side. Publisher Ubisoft announced today that production on the sequel has completed.

The Fractured But Whole will storm onto the PS4, Xbox One, and PC October 17. Today’s gone gold announcement comes on the heels of more than a year’s worth of delays and pushed back release dates. It recently attracted some controversy when it was revealed that selecting higher difficulties would result in the darkening of your character’s skin color.

Earlier this year, some of the devs from Ubisoft San Francisco sat down with Shacknews for an exclusive interview about the game. PC players may want to check in on the game’s system requirements before hopping in. Finally, publisher Ubisoft sent over a brand new trailer in celebration of South Park’s gold status.
