Shack's Arcade Corner: Mario Bros.

It's-a me, Mario Mario! Join Greg Burke as he crawls through sewer pipes on the Mario Bros. first co-op adventure.

You may know Mario as both a plumber and pioneer of smooth scrolling. Years before he did anything so audacious as walk to the right and cause new terrain to scroll smoothly into sight, Mario traded in hammers and construction sets for POW blocks and pipes. In this whirlwind tour of the Mario Bros. coin-op game, you’ll be introduced to the Brothers Mario as well as several enemies, items, and effects that became staples just a few years later when Mario became a household name.

Haha most annoying sound in the world is pretty accurate. That game sounds terrible when the cabinet's volume is up too high.

NIce! 168K on level 20! SKILLED PLAYER. That's around the best I ever did, mid to high 20s, and I used to play basically every day after school. A friend of mine and I would play two games of Combat Mario Bros (Where you tried to bounce the other player to their doom or flip over enemies which he was about to kick off so they killed him - the POW worked amazingly for this), and then we'd play a couple of real games where we went for the gold.
