Stand up and cheer for the long-awaited Minecraft Better Together update, which is now live! (Not you, Switch owners. Take a seat, you might be waiting a while.)

It's time for Minecraft players to come together, as Microsoft and Mojang have deployed the game's Better Together Update. This is the long-awaited update first announced at E3 2017, which will not only introduce 4K resolution for the first time, but also allow cross-play across a majority of Minecraft's platforms.

The Better Together update has been deployed across Xbox One, Windows 10 PC, iOS, Android, and the virtual reality versions of Minecraft. Those running the on-disc version of Minecraft on Xbox One will have to wait slightly longer. Unfortunately for Nintendo Switch owners, the update is taking longer than anticipated there, as Minecraft's team is estimating a winter deployment date for that console.

Minecraft is also getting several in-game additions with this update. That includes parrots, armor stands, stained glass, fireworks, jukeboxes, and more. The game's user interface is also getting a touch-up, with new world start options, game rules, loading screens, achievements, and in-game host options, among other things.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
