Injustice 2 Shocks the Pro Series Finale with Raiden, Black Lightning

The God of Thunder was on display following the end of the Injustice 2 Pro Series Grand Finals, as was the CW's next television star, Black Lightning.

The Injustice Pro Series ended its first season in memorable, yet familiar, fashion, with Echo Fox's Dominique "SonicFox" McLean taking first place and winning the $120,000 grand prize. But that wasn't the end of the festivities for the evening, as NetherRealm had one more thing to show off: A gameplay trailer for the game's next fighter, Raiden.

Making a cameo from the Mortal Kombat series, Raiden went on the offensive with his thunder-based move set. His classic Mortal Kombat specials were on display, including his Flying Torpedo and his Teleports. He also had a keen Super Move that sees him take his opponents skyward into Outworld before consuming them with the classic Mortal Kombat dragon.

But that wasn't the end of it, though. Raiden's alternate Premiere Skin will look familiar comic book fans. It's Black Lightning, DC's thunder-based hero, who's set to receive his own series this fall on the CW Network. Black Lightning will be included for free for those that have purchased the Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition.

Raiden will be available in October for those that have picked up the Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition or the Fighter Pack #2 a la carte. For more, check out the video below.

As for the Injustice 2 Pro Series finale itself, SonicFox dominated the whole way through, ultimately polishing off Noble Esports' Andrew "Semiij" Fontanez and his Catwoman. Showing a proficiency with Red Hood, SonicFox rarely struggled in the Grand Finals, showing he's still the man to beat in the NetherRealm world.
