Top 10 Games That Almost Ruined Their Franchises

Greg Burke counts down the Top 10 Games that nearly wrecked respectable gaming franchises.

When waxing poetic about particular long-running gaming franchises, the blemishes on the record are usually skimmed over. A shift in ideas, staffing, or something else may have led to a less than desirable experience that fans just didn't resonate with. Sometimes, though, an entry in a series is so incredibly bad that a faint death knell can be heard off in the distance.

We took votes from our Chatty, staff, and Twitter to see what games make the list, so tune in as our Greg Burke counts down the Top 10 Games That Almost Ruined Their Franchises.

Well if you look at terms of when the game came out. X7 was bad and almost killed the franchise x8, did kill it. These arent top 10 dead franchises, just the games that almost did. X7 didnt but almost did. X8 finally did it

X7 wasnt the last game in the franchise.

Ultra super streer fighter is in the works.

I dont feel the mass effect franchise is dead. The games not bad, just had a lot controversy at launch. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that there will be another Mass effect game.

The gap between dragons age 2 and Inquisition was pretty long if i remember right

Yup, all this "Mass Effect is dead" stuff is ludicrous. It'll probably be a few years before we hear anything, but that franchise will certainly be coming back again eventually. It does bother the hell out of me that it likely won't pick up where ME:A left off though. I enjoyed the story and wanted to find out more, like what the fuck happened to the Quarian ark, or what's outside the small corner of Andromeda that the game is set in.

I think andromeda did ruin the franchise, doesnt seem like ea is revisiting it any time soon and ea changed the entire direction of the studio based on its failure.

Ya, i mean i was big ME fan and had no interest in Andromeda at all.

It was a 3 year gap from DA2 to Inquisition.

It's Dragon Age, not Dragons Age (you said the latter a few times). I liked the video though!

Nice, saw some Simcity footage in there.

Man that video has a TON of fluff in it though. It was driving me crazy, just get to the point!
