The celebration continues! Bluehole Inc sent out a press release today announcing that PlayerUnknown’s Battleground has reached an incredible milestone with ten million units sold. They also shared some of the notable highlights from the PUBG Invitational that took place during Gamescom 2017.

Rounding out August, PUBG snatched up the top spot on Steam’s concurrent players chart over DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike, games with incredibly consistent track records. It’s no easy feat for any dev to reach this peak, but the game will be under the microscope as time goes on to see if it has the legs to sustain this type of performance among Steam elites. Bluehole’s official statement puts their latest mark at 970,000 players at one time, a solid leap over the previous tally of 877,844.

The Gamescom PUBG Invitational, which had a prize pool of $350k, was well received and welcomed players from 19 different countries. Peak viewership for the event on Twitch was 536,000 (first day/solo mode) and 5.6 million viewed the event on the first day via PandaTV. Esport entities will likely note this performance as more PUBG events surely spring up in the future.

This type of growth and excitement is great for a game that has yet to have a full launch. PUBG is still in early access but continues to receive a great deal of support. The development team is going for quality over quantity with updates from here on, but they have a few interesting updates on the horizon that will surely keep players entertained while welcoming new faces. Every day that passes gets us a day closer to the new desert map and we’ll hopefully get a set release date for the patch that will enhance movement with vaulting over objects and climbing into windows. Check out our guide that will help you increase your FPS while playing PUBG on PC so that you enter this battle royale with your best setup possible.

This game is so much fun, i love the insanity of the early game.
I landed on one of those second story porches, looted a double barrel and closed all the doors and dude came in the ground floor come up stairs and I blasted him, it had to scare the shit out him.

I'm disappointed this game didn't end up being more than just a fad. I have never played it BUT I did play H1Z1 KotK enough to know the basics.

My biggest complaint from it is it's not a good group game. If you die, you are basically sitting there holding your dick until the rest of your group dies. The alternative, of course, is to just play singles. I much prefer cooperative games that don't prevent anyone who fails from playing for extended periods of time.
