Mario and his friends join forces with the bizarre, bunny-like Rabbids in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle for Nintendo Switch. If you've started the game, you've probably already met the acquaintance of Peach Rabbid, Luigi Rabbid, and other doppelgangers, but Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle has other characters you can swap in and out of your party—eight characters total, including the heroes introduced at the beginning of the game.

This guide will explain how to unlock more characters in Mario + Rabbids to round out your party of do-gooders.

Patience is a virtue. It's also the key to unlocking more playable characters in Mario + Rabbids. As you play through the game's campaign, you'll bump into other heroes—of the Rabbid variety as well as famous friends of Nintendo's mustachioed plumber—that you can bring into your party to take advantage of their weapons and abilities. Finish the story, and you'll have unlocked the full line-up.

The characters you'll unlock in approximately the order you'll meet them are Mario, Rabbid Mario, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Luigi, Rabbid Luigi, Yoshi, and Rabbid Yoshi.

How to Use Characters in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

Although you can mix and match your party to include virtually any combination of heroes, it's important to remember that Power Orbs cannot be shared between characters. That means if you use a Power Orb to unlock most of Peach Rabbid's skills on her skill tree, any character who replaces her in your lineup won't have those same upgrades.

Knowing that, try to upgrade your heroes according to which ones you prefer, then stick with them. If Rabbid Peach clicks with you, don't be shy about investing Power Orbs in her skill tree. Just remember that freshly unlocked characters won't be nearly as strong; you'll have to spend Power Orbs on them to unlock their full potential.
