Red Dead Redemption 2 Could Come to PC, But That's Up to Rockstar

Publisher Take-Two Interactive glad-hands PC users, but won't commit on whether the anticipated sequel will come to the platform.

Let's face it, Rockstar is a console-first developer. It took more than two years for the popular Grand Theft Auto 5 to hit PC, and that was AFTER two generations of console releases. So it should come as no surprise that Red Dead Redemption 2 may face the same fate. Publisher Take-Two Interactive, however, insisted on trying to cover Rockstar's assets on the PC front in an earnings call today.

Company President Karl Slatoff reiterated that Take-two is bullish on the PC platform, but that some titles do better on console than PC. "It really depends on the title," he said. "Some titles are actually heavily weighted to PC, for example, Civilization and XCOM. Some titles are less weighted to PC. The great news is that the PC market is vibrant for us. It's a great market. It's a big market. It's a core market. These are consumers who are highly engaged. It's a predominantly digital market, which also removes friction in terms of ongoing engagement with the consumer. So for us, the PC market as a company is very important, very exciting, and something we focus on."

That's great, Karl. Wonderful news! So that means we will get Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC?

"Any updates about any of our titles will come from our labels," Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick interjected.

So, diva Rockstar continues to pluck the heartstrings of PC users and pull the financial strings of Take-Two. Good luck getting Red Dead Redemption 2 any time soon, PC fans. The game hits console some time next year, and if the GTA5 model holds true, we should get RDR2 on PC sometime after the Xbox 360 One XX and PlayStation 5 versions in late 2020.
