Destiny 2's beta is up and running on PS4 and Xbox One ahead of the console version's full launch this September, but a mysterious error code called "Olive" is dampening the experience for many players. Bungie is aware of the error and working to roll out a fix. In the meantime, there are a few workarounds you can try if Olive has proven an obstacle.

What is Destiny 2's Olive Error?

"Olive" doesn't lend itself to easy interpretation. While Bungie may not know what's going on under the hood of its Destiny 2 beta, the developer hasn't shared the bug's precise cause as of yet. Olive seems to strike at different times for different players. One complaint logged on Bungie's forums mentions the bug occurring in the middle of a cutscene. Others reported the error code interrupting them during gameplay and booting them back to the character select screen.

Fortunately, Bungie is actively investigating error code Olive. "Please retry that activity again and resume what you were doing before the error occurred. If you encounter this error again, please exit Destiny then relaunch," reads an official update. If you continue to see this error, it’s likely due to testing we are doing on our end, please pardon our dust! Watch help.bungie.net and follow @BungieHelp for updates."

How to Fix Destiny 2's Olive Error

Be aware that as of this writing, there is no guaranteed, step-by-step process to curing Destiny 2's beta of error code Olive. Some players have had luck quitting the game and logging back in. According to other players, quitting the game and restarting the console has even higher odds of success.

If all else fails, try deleting and reinstalling your Destiny 2 beta. Shacknews will update this guide as soon as Bungie rolls out a patch.

Another bug, error code Termite, has infested some players. Refer to our guide to see if one of the solutions works for you. If you're a new player and have just redeemed your beta voucher, learn how to download the Destiny 2 beta
