Although Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are Nintendo's centerpieces for EVO 2017, Nintendo will be promoting the Switch version of Pokken Tournament DX by "recruiting" players at its booth.

The company's using the laidback recruitment process as a way to drum up interest for Pokken Tournament DX ahead of launch this September. "This year, Nintendo is attending the event with a booth space featuring playable kiosks for the Pokken Tournament DX fighting game, which stars popular Pokémon characters," per a press release. Signing up for the academy opens players up to receiving "exclusive tips and tricks directly from Nintendo and the game’s development team, as well as invitations to a special Nintendo event at PAX West in Seattle."

If you're still hunting for a Switch and plan on attending EVO, you might as well sign up. All participants will be automatically entered for a chance to win a Nintendo Switch during an on-site drawing at this year's event, which begins today in Las Vegas. Head to Nintendo's booth in the South Convention Center for more details.

Pokken Tournament DX is a "deluxe" port of the original Pokken Tournament on Wii U, similar to how Nintendo ported 2014's Mario Kart 8 to Switch bearing a DX subtitle. The DX release of Pokken Tournament will feature all 16 original characters plus five new combatants and ranked play for online matches.
