With the Destiny 2 beta just around the corner, and the ability to pre-load just kicking off today, Guardians all over the gaming universe are scrambling to figure out how to download the Destiny 2 beta on their platform of choice.

How to Download the Destiny 2 Beta

The first step to downloading the Destiny 2 beta is to get yourself a code. The most common way to get your hands on a code is to pre-order the game. While we don’t have a full list of participating retailers, we know that the PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace and Amazon will all grant beta access.

Sneaky Tip: When you pre-order a product on Amazon, you aren’t charged for it until it ships. It’s possible you could (if you feel you’ll be able to sleep with yourself at night) pre-order the game, enjoy the beta, and then cancel the pre-order later without being charged.

After you pre-order the game you should get an email with your code. This is not your beta code that you plug into your platform of choice, but rather a code that you redeem at Bungie’s code redemption portal.

Once you’re on the code redemption portal, you’ll need to sign into your PS4 or Xbox One account, or create a new account. This will take you to a page where you can enter the code given to you by the retailer with whom you pre-ordered the game. Once you’ve entered that code, you’ll be taken to another page, this one allowing you to choose your platform.

Choose Your Destiny 2 Beta Platform.

Note: If you choose PC as your platform, you will not be able to get into the PS4 (July 18) or Xbox One (July 19) betas. You will not receive your PC beta code until later in August, closer to the event.

Completing these steps will generate a Destiny 2 beta code. From here you’ll need to head to the PlayStation Store or Xbox Marketplace and redeem that code, allowing you to download and pre-load the Destiny 2 beta.
